Our Front Page with Kinder
In English the Kindergarten children have been focusing on identifying the main character in our shared story ‘Chip' and using adjectives to describe Chip's appearance and his character traits. They also created some awesome artwork to assist them when adding more detail to their sentences. Well done Kinder!!

Our Gospel Reflection
This Sunday is our liturgical celebration of the Ascension of the Lord, when Jesus was taken to heaven on the fortieth day after Easter. During his ministry, Jesus sent his disciples to preach, to heal, and to drive out unclean spirits. Now they are sent again to do these things and more. From his place with God in heaven, Jesus helped his disciples, and he continues to help us as we try to live as his followers.
It can be very important whom we sit next to. Any family that has tried to sit down to a family dinner or packed the car for a trip has heard children argue at least once about who should sit where. To sit next to someone, especially if that person is important, is to have a place of honor. Jesus has this place of honor seated at God’s right hand, but there’s more to this metaphor than where Jesus sits in relation to God. To be in the place of honor is also to be in a place of power. Knowing people in powerful places can be helpful. Our children remind us of this each time we are called upon to referee a conflict. Jesus, honored at God’s right hand, is a powerful ally for us.
As you gather as a family, recall a time when there was a discussion, or perhaps even an argument, about where people were going to sit. Talk about why it might be important to a person to sit in a particular place. Observe that in Sunday’s Gospel we will learn about Jesus’ place in heaven. Read together Sunday’s Gospel from Mark 16:15-20. Talk about what we might learn about the relationship between God and Jesus from this Gospel and what we learn about Jesus’ relationship to us. Observe that one of the things we learn is that Jesus continues to help us from this place of honor in heaven. Pray together The Lord's Prayer.
From Our Principal
We look forward to celebrating Mother’s Day with our Mother’s Day Liturgy and Lunch this Friday. Mothers and mother figures are instrumental in our lives and pausing to celebrate these remarkable women is so important. Please note that this commences earlier at 12 noon in the Parish Hall.
Tell Them From Me - Partners in Learning Surveys
Over the next two weeks, we will be inviting students, teachers and parents to provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. The surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process.
We would like to invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community, we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to continue our commitment to working together in partnership, to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Brigid's Primary School. The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Note that most responses are multiple-choice using a scale from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree. It can be quite easy to mix this scale up when completing the survey. Please take your time to read the questions carefully, so we have the most accurate data we can attain.
You are able to access the parent survey on your computer or mobile device by using this linkhttp://tellthemfromme.com/kyogle24 We also have a device available at the school office for parents to use to complete the survey, if this is more convenient. The survey is now open and closes on Friday 24th May 2024.
Thank you for sharing your voice to help us guide our school forward.
Ready 4 Learning

UNDERSTANDING THE SEMESTER ONE K-6 STUDENT REPORT
Reporting to parents formally happens twice a year; at the end of Semester One and again at the end of Semester Two. Reporting is a core responsibility of teachers and a key phase of the teaching and learning cycle. The reporting process is one avenue for teachers to reflect on individual and class achievement and can provide clarity on future directions.
The report will be sent through to parents on our communication platform, COMPASS. Please know that there are always opportunities to further discuss with your child’s teacher the progress report.
The attachment below explains the content and structure of the report, gives examples and explains the language used to describe student achievement and areas for growth. It breaks down what has been assessed for each focus area within English and Mathematics.
If you have any questions regarding student reports please make contact with your classroom teacher.

How to get a bit of Mothers’ Day into every day
Mothers’ Day is a wonderful opportunity for families to show their love and appreciation to the wonderful mothers and mother figures in their lives.
But is one day a year sufficient to give back to these women who, more often than not, provide a unique brand of selfless love, care and support to so many?
For mothers and those who mother to be able to continue doing what they do, it’s vital that they incorporate a little self-care into their lives. Before you tell yourself that there’s no time for such indulgence, remember that ‘self-care’ isn’t all about massages and spa days. Rather, it’s better understood as having the insight to know that, in order to look after others, it’s absolutely vital that we look after ourselves first.
Even small acts of self-compassion and kindness can go a long way towards replenishing our resources. Here are some simple strategies to help you get a little self-care into your routine:
- Don’t be afraid to delegate It takes a village to raise a child yet so many mothers are doing it without adequate support. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help when you need it.
- Schedule regular “me-time” Acknowledge that looking after yourself is a priority – after all, without keeping yourself in good working order, how are you going to look after anything - or anyone - else?
- Build in healthy habits There’s nothing like quality sleep, regular exercise and good nutrition to build a foundation of good physical, mental and emotional health. Keeping on top of these three pillars of life will help you better deal with any demands and challenges that come your way.
- Get good at saying “No” Time is finite. Remind yourself of this next time you feel inclined to commit to more than you can manage. Knowing your limits will reduce stress and increase the likelihood of you being present in whatever it is you dedicate your precious time to.
- Enjoy Mothers’ Day Make the most of your special day this Sunday, and welcome any spoiling with open arms! You deserve it!

Attendance Matters
Monitor your child’s online activities. Negative interactions can lead to school avoidance.
Monitoring your child’s online activities is a crucial aspect of parenting in the digital age, and it can indeed play a role in addressing and preventing issues like school avoidance. Here are some reasons why monitoring online activities is important and how it can help prevent negative interactions that may contribute to school avoidance:
- Early Detection of Issues. Regular monitoring allows you to detect any early signs of negative online interactions, such as cyberbullying or social media conflicts. Addressing these issues promptly can prevent them from escalating and negatively impacting your child's well-being.
- Understanding Social Dynamics. By staying informed about your child's online interactions, you gain insights into their social dynamics and relationships. Understanding the online environment helps you identify positive and negative influences on your child's emotional and social wellbeing.
- Communication and Trust. Open communication about online activities fosters trust between you and your child. When children know that their online experiences are open for discussion, they are more likely to share concerns or challenges they may be facing.
- Setting Boundaries. Establishing clear expectations and boundaries for online behaviour is essential. By monitoring your child's activities, you can ensure that they are adhering to these boundaries and engaging in positive online interactions.
- Providing Guidance on Conflict Resolution. If negative interactions do occur, use them as teachable moments to guide your child on conflict resolution and appropriate ways to handle disagreements. This skill is valuable both online and offline.
By actively engaging in their digital world, you can create a safer online environment and contribute to their emotional and social resilience.

North Coast Health Connect
North Coast Health Connect is a free (bulk billing) new service providing health support and advice from registered nurses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including public holidays. If you are a resident or visitor to the North Coast, you can speak or live chat with a nurse. The nurse will ask some questions to understand what’s troubling you and then provide advice on what your next step should be.
This may include self-care advice to help you to manage your health (or that of a loved one) from home, or the nurse may recommend a GP appointment or a consultation with a pharmacist. The nurses are able to book an appointment for you directly with a local general practice or pharmacy or if appropriate, can transfer you to a 24/7 GP telehealth service. If the nurse believes you need to attend an emergency department or see a different health service, they will let you know.
