Newsletter Term 2 Week 3 (Wednesday 10 May 2023)
Our Front Page with Year 1...
Year 1 have been thoroughly enjoying their English unit this term. We have been looking at persuasive texts and how authors use their character’s facial expressions, colour choice and vectors of movement to expand meaning.

Our Gospel Reflection
Sunday’s Gospel is a continuation of last week’s Gospel: Jesus is speaking to his disciples at the Last Supper. In this reading Jesus offers encouragement to his disciples, who will soon see him crucified. He reassures them that even though he will leave them, he will not abandon them. Instead he will send them the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, through whom the disciples will continue to live in union with Jesus.
The Holy Spirit also guides us into all truth, helping us to grasp the meaning of Jesus' words, actions and miracles. As we live out our faith, it is the Spirit that animates us as disciples, empowering us to use our unique gifts to make a difference in our world.
Jesus promises his followers that the Holy Spirit will abide in us. How are you aware of the Holy Spirit's presence in your life?
From Our Principal
This Sunday, we celebrate Mothers’ Day – an important and special day when we remember and give thanks to our mothers for everything they have done to guide and shape our lives.
I am sure that each of us has a very special memory of our mum or another important woman in our lives, and many of us are fortunate to still have the opportunity to continue creating beautiful memories with our mothers.
For all our mothers and other special women, on this special day, we honour them. We hope they can join us for our Mother's Day Liturgy this Friday, in the Parish Hall, as we pray for and honour all of our mothers.
We wish all our mums a very happy Mothers' Day for Sunday, 14 May.
Catholic Schools Week
Thank you to the families who joined our Catholic Schools Week celebrations last week either through attending our Learning Walk or our Liturgy. Our School Leaders, Georgia and Noah led our liturgy so well speaking of the importance of being given the opportunity of attending a Catholic School.
It is important to acknowledge the work that all of our Catholic Schools do and especially our Catholic School, St Brigid's here in Kyogle.
Tell Them From Me
A sincere thank you to all parents who have been able to share their voices through the Tell Them From Me survey. Your voice, along with that of your children and their teachers, will help to guide the direction of our school going forward.
I look forward to sharing the analysis of the survey with you when the results are released.
You are able to access the parent survey on your computer or mobile device by using this link http://tellthemfromme.com/cp82f We also have a device available at the school office for parents to use to complete the survey, if this is more convenient.
Thank you for sharing your voice to help us guide our school forward.
Stars of the Week
This term we have introduced a new award, Stars of the Week which will be presented to the class with the best average attendance for the week. Last week the winning class was Year 1 with a weekly attendance average of 95.3%. This award will be presented each and every Friday.
Remember our whole school goal is 90%. The whole school average weekly attendance for this term is as follows:
Week 1: 90% - Year 6 (96.1%), Year 1 (95.6%), Year 3 (93.6%)
Week 2: 87% - Year 1 (95.3%), Year 6 (92.7%), Year 2 (90.4%)
It is essential that every student is at school on every day as attendance matters to support your child's learning.

MOTHERS DAY LITURGY:
A reminder that we will join as a school community to celebrate and acknowledge all the Mums and significant women in our lives on Friday at 12pm. Our celebration will begin in the hall with a liturgy , with guests then staying on school grounds for a cuppa and picnic lunch with students. St Brigid's students are very excited to host a pamper session for their Mum. We are looking forward to seeing you all there.
STAGE TWO FAMILY MASS:
Save the date! The students of Stage Two will be leading our Parish Family Mass on Sunday, 28th of May. This means that students will sing songs and participate in Children's Liturgy with their teachers. After mass we will gather for morning tea and a cuppa.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION:
Year Three students are learning about the sacrament of Confirmation in class. This is a part of preparing students who are receiving this Sacrament on Wednesday, 7th June. The sacrament is the second sacrament of initiation. Confirmation is where we are sealed with the spirit. The Holy Spirit gives us the increased ability to practise our Catholic faith in every aspect of our lives and to witness Christ in every situation. Bishop Greg Homeming will be leading the Sacrament and will speak to parents at 5.30pm in Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The Sacrament will follow at 6pm. There will be a parent information night on Wednesday, 24th May at 5.30 pm in the Library.
Positive Behaviour 4 Learning (PB4L)
Focus for Week 3: I know the routines and expectations in my classroom and put effort into following them.
From the Wellbeing Team
This week’s strength is LOVE. What a fitting strength to celebrate on the eve of Mothers’ Day! Love describes the strength of being warm and genuine, and of valuing close relationships (bring anyone to mind?).
If you asked legendary British band The Beatles, they might tell you that All You Need is Love, Love is All You Need.
Is love a particular strength belonging to you or someone close to you? How does love feature in
your day-to-day life, and how does it help you or your loved ones to grow and tackle challenges?
Take a moment to acknowledge the strength of love in yourself and others, and consider how this
strength enriches life for you and the people around you.
Seasons For Growth
Dear Families,
Just a reminder that St. Brigid’s is offering the Seasons For Growth Program to students in 2023. This is a small group program based on the belief that change, loss and grief are a normal and natural art of life. If you feel that your child might benefit from Seasons, please nominate your interest via the link below. If your child is nominated, a Permission Form and Information Letter further outlining the Program will be sent home with your child.
